The AW Howard Memorial Trust Inc commemorates the contribution of Amos William Howard to the adoption and use of subterranean clover as a pasture plant in Australia.

Thanks to Howard’s pioneering efforts, the subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum L.) has:

• become one of the most important pasture plants in Australia
• transformed millions of acres of infertile soil into productive pasture land
• increased our harvests by restoring land fertility and worn out wheat lands.

The Howard Trust provides travel, fellowships and scholarship funding to promote and support in the area of pasture research, livestock management, farming systems, agronomy, farm business management, woody crops, on-farm biodiversity and socio-economic aspects of farming.

We support research technicians all over the world in their everyday work with innovative machines and services. The blacksmith Johann Zürn laid the foundations for today’s company back in 1885. The field research technology team is based on the knowledge of the Hege employees, who developed the first viable plot combine 60 years ago. The Hohebuch domain remains a reliable partner for researchers all over the world, even 60 years after the first Hege machine was built in 1963. Today, ZÜRN HARVESTING develops and manufactures innovative field research technology at this historic site. 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of the field research technology division.

Nowadays, ZÜRN offers a complete product range for sowing, cultivating and harvesting agricultural field trials. 20 years after the first trial model, ZÜRN plot combines support plant breeders and research technicians worldwide in their daily work: threshing grass seed in Holland, multiplying sugar beet seed in Sweden or harvesting soybeans in Brazil. Fertcare® is an initiative of Fertilizer Australia which trains and equips people all along the fertilizer supply chain to promote productivity, environmental stewardship, and food safety.

Why is Fertcare of value?
•  Prudent fertilizer and soil amendment use can sustain or improve agricultural productivity and profitability which makes a significant contribution to global food, fibre and energy production.
•  Fertilizer and soil amendments can harm the environment and cause food safety issues particularly at the point of end use. Informing farmers about these risks and referring them to sound advice on how to manage this risk is essential.
